This is a very weird collection of short stories. If you're in the right mindset, they can be very funny...but if you take it too seriously, it's all just kind of
| Okay, the first thing you need to know about this manga is that it's a collection of short stories, and the second thing you need to know is that ALL of the characters are the ages of the two on the front cover. Thirdly, all the stories are on the cute/sweet side of life, so it's not technically shouta...but if you're not interested in cute quite young boys falling in cute-love, this one isn't for you. | |
As per usual, my summary of the stories:
1 - A young blonde future uke buys a poem from a "street poet," our young dark-haired future seme, and takes it way too seriously.
2 - The prince from the little mermaid was actually in love with...her brother, the mer-prince. I am
not kidding here.
3 - A boy allows another boy to follow him home after a funeral one day, and both boys have abandonment complexes.
4 - A boy is dumped by a bitchy girl. She doesn't want to waste her ticket for their next date, though, so she sends her brother to the date in her place.
5 - A dumb blonde gets stalked by a loquacious idiot. Perfect match!
6 - A boy working in a toy store gets pounced by another boy-- a customer --who thinks he looks like a particular doll. The other boy wants to lock the first one in a closet with his other dolls...
7 - A pair of young toddler twins stumble upon another toddler with a sign that says "please adopt me." One twin does. Years later, love triangle! And seriously, what is with this manga and little kids randomly taking home other little kids and keeping them?
8 - This is a very short-short bit and the reason why the rating on this is PG-13 (well, that and one reference to sex earlier). Two boys, naked in bed, but you can't see anything and beyond a peck on the lips they don't do anything either. Still, I was slightly squicked...
Right, so, the characters are young but the art is cute. The stories run the relatively small gamut from syruppy to...kind of crazy (see #2-- which is also very funny).
I dunno, I'm definitely not usually into something with kids this young even if they're NOT kids, but I can still appreciate that the stories are sweet. Jordan wouldn't even touch this one (she likes her gay men more mature). ;)
