Stories of Love in 1K Apartment - Preview
1K Apaato no Koi / Stories of Love in 1K Apartment (See Baka-Updates entry)

Review through issue 6 (complete?), no spoilers.

Sex rating: PG-13, except for Chapter 5, which is NC-17. I'm not going to talk about that chapter much, so that I can let this be a public post, though.

Art: B
Story: A-
Action: N/A
OVERALL: B+
If you're looking for more plot and less sex, you'll probably like Stories of Love in 1K Apartment (isn't that a weird word order? I'd have translated to something like "Love in Apartment 1K" instead).*

The actual resident of apartment 1K* is Kouno Eishi, who is in love with his best friend, Takagi Natsu. Lucky(?) for him, they get drunk and have sex (which we don't really see much of). Yay? So they are Couple 1. Couple 2 lives in apartment 2K* (I think)-- they're also childhood friends, and in this case roommates, until Yamamuro Kei confesses his love to Outomo Naomichi.Stories of Love in 1K Apartment - Ten mins plzkthx

What follows then are some cute tales of them getting together, and then having difficulties of varying sorts. Chapter 1 follows Eishi and Natsu getting together, while Chapter 2 follows the same for Kei and Naomichi (Naomichi and Eishi become drinking buddies at some point in this chapter, too, go fig).

In chapter 3 we get Natsu's insecurities regarding Eishi (chapter 1 was mostly from Eishi's POV), jealousy and whatnot. Chapter 4 is part II of this saga. Kei and Naomichi appear, but these two are all centered on Eishi and Natsu. Chapter 5 follows Kei and Naomichi dealing with the difficult task of destroying Naomichi's anal virginity, and chapter 6 is a cute story about both couples, so...ding! Couple 1, you are the winner and just barely the central focus of the piece!

These are nice stories, and they've mostly got a very "real-world" feel to them-- although in a piece where two couples are juxtaposed I'd prefer to see some more contrast. Both couples were childhood friends, and the way they think tends to be the same for all four of our fine friends.

That said, the art and story are both pretty good, and I sure as hell don't worry about juxtaposition in the average yaoi manga, so I'd be remiss if I didn't hold this one to the usual standards-- by which it's a pretty damn good piece of work.

Manga-ka: Fujiyama Hyouta Censorship: N/A (Chapter 5-- clothes and other body parts in the way).
Warnings: Underage (Couple 1 is in high school until they graduate in chapter 6), one couple gets into an outright brawl-- forget "spats."

EDIT: I've been informed that the 1K in "1K Apartment" is not referring to the apartment number, but rather to the size of the apartment. Thanks to narziss on the forums for the tip. :)
