Only the Ring Finger Knows volume 2: The Left Hand Dreams of Him (
See DMP entry)
Review of volume 2, just-barely spoilers.
Sex rating: Eh...R. One's underage and they're sexually active, but these aren't explicit novels.
Art: C+
Story: C+
Action: N/A
OVERALL: C+
I think anything with "left hand" in the title should involve more masturbation, that's all I'm sayin'. (
Unrelatedly: vote in our new poll, to the right of the window!)

This book follows the same two-story format as its
predecessor. The first story is about Yuichi, our seme, taking on a part-time job to earn money so he can take uke Wataru on a vacation to, uh, "the sea." He starts working for his university senpai, Masanobu.
Which leaves poor Wataru a little neglected, and Yuichi spending a fair bit of time with Masanobu. To avoid emoing, Wataru starts hanging around Yuichi's work, only to find havoc generally being wrought for various reasons. Yuichi and Wataru have various misunderstandings with other characters, and eventually make up.
You know I was going to give a more specific description of the plot, but it occurred to me that that last sentence could pretty much describe this plot...and the manga's plot...in the book...and the plots from the last book...seriously, watch:
Yuichi and Wataru find out they have the same rings, have misunderstandings, make up, and are happy. Yuichi and Wataru want to start having sex, have misunderstandings, make up, and are happy. Yuichi gets a job, has misunderstandings with Wataru, they make up, and are happy.
Which leaves the final plot for this book, which is actually slightly different: Wataru and Yuichi go on vacation and bump into Yuichi's older brother, who disapproves of their relationship. They emo, get over it, and are happy.
I understand the appeal of these books, honestly I do. They're very cute and romantic and whatnot. But I can't help but keep thinking Yuichi is kind of a dick and Wataru is kind of an idiot, especially in the first story. The second story is better and gives me hope for the third novel.
This book suffers from one of the same problems as the last one: typos scattered throughout the book. The writing is similarly middleschoolish, which is probably fine because it's probably intended for middle schoolers. But I'm 22, and the writing is about as deep as a kiddie pool and about as subtle as a bull in a china shop.
Allow me to reiterate: it's not BAD. It's just not really all that good either.
