You may have noticed a few changes around here at YaoiSuki. That's because we've moved to a new host, and in the process upgraded and altered a bunch of our features (most notably: embedded wiki and better forums). Unfortunately, we lost our user database in the move, so those of you who were signed up will unfortunately need to sign up again. It's a pretty painless process though!

So we JUST got in from DMP's June manga panel (June Manga being DMP's yaoi imprint these days), and boy have we got some licensing news (and rumors) for you! Check it out.
EDITED TO INCLUDE BLU AND DRAMAQUEEN LICENSES!
Discuss this news.
So! First off, some licensing announcements:
LoveHolic by Kawai Touko
Solfege by Yoshinaga Fumi
Alcohol, Shirt & Kiss by Kuwabara Yuuko
The Day I Became a Butterfly by Sumomo Yumeka
Seven by Tenzen Momoko
Then some bad news: Kiss of Fire, another story with the Haru wo Daiteita characters, has been delayed to fall or winter 2006. Fortunately for us, because of the delay they are including some BONUS content that was NOT in the original Japanese-- the story involves one character writing letters to another, and we'll get to see translations of the letters. ♥
And then we got a few HINTS: first off, there was some mention of Gravitation 2, which I know will excite quite a few of you. Otakon goers were advised to attend the June panel and check their program guide carefully, and that was hinted at while we were discussing harder stuff-- Under Grand Hotel, Tokyo Savage, and Dr. Ten. I'd be awfully surprised if they brought in Dr. Ten, but UGH would just be awesome.
Also mentioned by people asking questions were Mirage of Blaze (which the DMP folk said they were bugging Shueisha about, btw), Sukisho the manga, and Okane ga Nai. Someone suggested that DMP consider bringing in and translating yaoi games, even though it wasn't quite their shtick, and that suggestion was met with great joy.
From the Tokyopop panel, according to AnimeNewsNetwork.com, they have licensed Gakuen Heaven. They will likely publish this under their Blu imprint. A random person at the June panel claimed that Blu had also licensed Sex Pistols, but it seems like that might be just a rumor since ANN did not mention it in their report.
DramaQueen announced licensing of Your Honest Deceit By Sakufu Ajimine, Love Me Sinfully by Mio Tennohji, and Allure by Ebihara. They also announced a Korean shounen-ai title: "The Summit." (Source: AnimeNewsNetwork)
On the non-yaoi front, DMP has acquired the US rights to the new Vampire Hunter D manga, currently in production-- and they are actually going to get it out in English BEFORE they get it in Japan. We saw some page scans, and it looks pretty awesome. Not yaoi though. ;)
So there's the news! That and I didn't win the raffle for the grab bag, which was in a really cool bag. I really wanted that bag. I probably have the stuff in it, but damn, what a cool bag! |
