According this this entry on what appears to be Yaoi Magazine's blog, the first issue has been printed.

The website for the magazine is here.

Also, there is a trailer up for Duel Love that you can see online at this Japanator article. Sadly, it sounds like the game actually has a plot. Does it really need one?

Iris Print Speaks! PDF Print E-mail

So we haven't heard a word from Iris Print since they announced that they were cancelling BL Twist, but today we got a letter-- and anyone else on Iris' e-mail list did as well --from editor/owner Kellie Lynch, explaining the situation of her company.

You can read the full letter after the jump, but the basic sum-up is: the company has run out of funds (or rather, run out of credit). Lynch is the only full-time employee and she is going back to a regular 9-5 job to pay off the company's debt, but she is not closing the company at this time.

If you want to help the company, she offers three methods.

First, pre-order Iris' pending books. They need 150 preorders of Home on the Range and 250 for Queer Magic to make their print runs viable. (I suspect that buying their other books wouldn't hurt either.)

Second, as Lynch can no longer work full-time on Iris, she's hoping to find some helpers-- editors, typesetters, web programmers, etc. There's no pay involved, but anyone who helps will be "fully credited." Contact her here if you want to help.

And finally, for the broke and busy, you can help by taking a quick survey.

What does the future hold for Iris Print? That remains to be seen.

Ayako Suwa's vampire BL manga RH Plus is going to become a drama series. The official website is here.
Source: The Otaku.
Primary Source: Ultimatum Talk.

Over at June Manga Editor Blog, June has announced a new contest. So if any of you want to "Help Rei-chan clean up her desk" by taking things like those perky autographed copies of Little Butterfly off her hands, you can head on over and ever.

Yaoi-con made two announcements to a post to their Livejournal. One is their holiday card that they have up on their site. Also, they have announced dates for next year as September 26-28. Yay, it's not right before Halloween! I can throw a Halloween party next year! I am almost ridiculously happy about this.

More Yoshinaga Awards and Deux's New Website PDF Print E-mail

Active Anime got a press release from Aurora Publishing announcing the relaunch of the company's lines' websites, including Deux Press's. The site is very prettified and offers more news and information about the company and its releases, but I can't help but notice that they don't have any forums or other fan community features-- alas! But it's a pretty nice-lookin' site otherwise, if you're okay with a lot of pink/magenta.

Also, the keen eyes at Boys on Boys on Film spotted a Yoshinaga title on the 2008 Young Adult Library Services Association (YASLA) Great Graphic Novels List: Moon & Sandals, specifically. Congratulations as always, Yoshinaga-sensei!

CPM Breaks Silence on Libre PDF Print E-mail

So I just heard from my pal gia, who is busy liveblogging at New York Anime Festival. She spent a little bit of time talking with Central Park Media's John O'Donnell and managed to pry word out of him about the company's absence at Yaoi Con and their ordeal with Libre. Here's what she said:

I only spent a few minutes at the CPM booth, and I asked about Kizuna 9. O'Donnell said he had no idea when it would be out at the moment. After a bit more chatting he talked about the Libre issue....it was a sort of impromptu interview, so I'm sorry I don't have stuff word for word! But here's the general idea.

He says that when he paid Biblos up-front for the rights to the various yaoi titles they put out, he acquired the rights for the duration of the contract and that Libre's acquisition of those rights after the demise of Biblos did not cancel that out.

Since putting up their notice, O'Donnell says Libre has not taken any action to settle the matter, and even refuses to sit down with O'Donnell or any other CPM representatives to try and work it out. Libre has not filed a lawsuit. He hopes that Libre will bring their lawyers to the U.S. so that the matter can be settled, but thinks that they are trying to deliberately harm the sales of the books until CPM's license expires so that they can license the series to another company.

As for Yaoi-Con '07, he says that probably due to the Libre issue, they were never approached to get a booth or sponsor the con, so they decided not to invest the money in a con that didn't seem to want them. He also noted that the reason why CPM has been so quiet on the matter up to now is because typically in Japan you don't take these arguments to the public-- but now he seems pretty fed up with the entire matter.

So are we, John-- so are we!

I'll be at their panel on Sunday, at which O'Donnell says the company will have a surprise-- so I'll report back then!

Thanks gia, we love you. ♥
