You may have noticed a few changes around here at YaoiSuki. That's because we've moved to a new host, and in the process upgraded and altered a bunch of our features (most notably: embedded wiki and better forums). Unfortunately, we lost our user database in the move, so those of you who were signed up will unfortunately need to sign up again. It's a pretty painless process though!

I just wanted to drop everyone an update to let you know that if you haven't already, you should really log in to the site and check out the "Your Profile" option. I've been busting my butt in the backend here to play with profiles, and I think you'll like what's available-- but it won't show up on your profile until you start fussing with it! Here's some of what I've done:
Profile: There are four tabs; one contains standard stuff (primary fandom, favorite manga, favorite BL manga, etc); one offers a place to list some of your favorite links, one is labeled "My TMI" (where you can share your favorite kinks, fictional or otherwise), and finally there's an option called "My Page." In "My Page" you can put whatever you want, using either a WYSIWYG editor or hand-coding your own HTML (that setting is under "Contact Info.") It's just a nice little free-for-all for anything you want to include that I haven't already made a spot for.
Connections: When you visit someone's profile, you can use the "Connections" menu at the top to arrange a connection with someone-- basically like "friending" someone. You can also classify the connection; some of the ones I've got listed are "Seme/Uke," "Writer/Beta," "Roleplay Buddies," etc.
Other Stuff: Each profile now sports a fancy-schmancy guestbook, so that you can say hi to someone. (You can also send people a PM through the site via the "message" button on their profile.) And there's also a tab for forum info, like what topics you're subscribed to and what your recent posts have been.
Upcoming: I'm fussing around with a few things just to make things go smoother and prettier, but a couple of features I'm working on for the profiles include a book list where you can share your own personal BL library with everyone on the site, and also I'm looking at a plugin that will let people attach a flag for their home country or state on their profile.
If you want to offer up a feature idea, request something be changed, or just keep up with whatever little changes I'm making, we have a forum thread just for that right here. Oh, and if you want to see what a profile can look like, click here to see mine. |

Attention, readers! We have now opened up voting for our biggest award, the User's Choice Award for Best BL Manga of '06-'07! Jordan and I picked eleven titles out of everything published between October '06 and the end of September '07, which you can now vote for on the right-hand side of the site. If you absolutely can't imagine how (X) title wasn't on our list, you can also nominate it on the forum thread for this entry and we'll consider that a vote for that title. (Don't worry, next year we have a better idea-- but between various real-life issues and our site's downtime we just couldn't implement it this year.)
So hurry up and get voting! You have until 12pm on Thursday, October 25th to get your vote in! |

DMP, Dream Shop and 801 Media have are putting an employee named 'Ben' up for auction during Yaoi Con's Bishonen Auction. Bend ... I mean, Ben will be wearing a lovely Lolita dress that the lucky winner gets to keep. My question is, does the winner get to take the dress off of Ben personally?
The June Blog post about this is here.

I've been sitting on some of this for a few days due to the site move.
First of all, Blu is having a 30% jump in the price of their manga. They are going from $9.99 to $12.99. According to this forum thread, the price hike starts in 2008. Though, we should start to see color pages regularly. It looks like Boysenberry and Kitty Media are now tied for having the lowest prices for a volume of licensed yaoi.
There was a New York Times article that mentioned Pop Japan Travel's Fujoshi Paradise Tour here.
Yaoi Con is doing a contest in conjunction with FanimeCon to guess FanimeCon’s what voice actor FanimeCon will have as a guest. So, one would assume this seiyuu would be of interest to yaoi fans. Anyway, check out more details here.
There is a contest over on June's forums where they are giving out prizes for the most impressive yaoi collections. It's a fun contest just to see the pictures people are submitting. Check it out here
Ok, my collection is weak compared to some of those.
Also, on our forums Trasirshall linked to Aarin Secret Magazine. Good secret, it was the first we'd heard of it. Please, someone tell me this was the first issue and that I haven't been missing this on an ongoing basis? |
