 I had a few observations about this year's Yaoi Con that I never really got to address in our posts, so I thought I'd throw them together in a column, which serves the double purpose of proving that we do still occasionally do columns. Yay!
So first off: the people who were there weren't terribly surprising, but it seemed like there were a lot of people who should have been there who weren't. Here's a little list...

The yaoi news keeps coming! From an article at ICv2 Yen Press has licensed three yaoi titles!
They are:
* Love Quest (Rabu Kue)
* Mr. Flower Bride (Hanayome-kun)
* Mr. Flower Groom (Hanamuko-san)
All three titles are by Lily Hoshino.
Why weren't they at Yaoi-Con? We almost missed this! Don't get too excited over these, as the first will not be out until a year from now.

Ok, here are all the other little bits of info we picked up this weekend. We were in such a rush to post new licensing announcements that a few scraps of info got left behind. So, for you hardcore yaoi news junkies, here we go.
Yaoi Press mentioned that two of their titles will be published in Japan. No word yet on which or on through what company.
The Deux Panel was a surprise to me. I figured that they were going to be a small yaoi publisher, but they have a publishing schedule that calls for every month in 2008 to have one or two new volumes out.
Deux Press brought two yaoi editors from Japan to their panels. I wish I'd had some prepared questions for them. I did not catch the name of the female editor. (I think it was Ms. Kurasaki?) The other editor was one of the few male yaoi manga editors, Mr. Tanaka. Mr. Tanaka is an editor of a magazine called Mellow Mellow (メロメロ). The Deux representative said that there will be more manga published in Mero Mero coming out from Deux later on.
Deux Press's Japanese parent company, Ohzora Publishing, is the number one publisher for women in Japan. They put out titles like Tonari no 801-chan and the Lamento anthologies.
Another surprising part of the panel happened when an attendee asked about whether men read yaoi in Japan. The editors said that they didn't exactly know, but that ‘pretty many read it’. Particularly, men like to read Fumi Yoshinaga titles.
I asked about them adding translations notes and they asked if people would want those. I think that they had not considered it. They said that would talk about it.
Now, onto some Blu notes.
Blu’s publication of Earthian was printed in Japan. Since a re-printing is usually a smaller run they are unlikely to ever re-print it. It would be complicated and cost prohibitive.
So, that is all I've got. I am out of news. Next year, I definitely going to be more prepared for the Deux Publishing panels in case they bring over more editors or other interesting people so I can ask them questions.
